  • A midwife is a health care provider who offers care to low-risk patients/clients across the life-span. Midwives care for people from menarche (the start of periods) to menopause (the cessation of periods, another life transition), as well as newborns up to 28 days of life. There are many different pathways/certifications to midwifery. Subsequently, from state to states there may be variations in how each midwife practices (including but not limited to location of practice, physician/supervision requirements, furnishing licensure/ability to prescribe medications, etc.). You can speak with with your midwife to find out their scope of practice, philosophy, state requirements, and personal practice guidelines. Midwives may offer the following types of are: preconception, prenatal/antepartum, intrapartum/labor, birth, postpartum, newborn, contraceptive (in some cases including prescription and/or placement of contraceptives), abortion, cervical cancer screening (Pap smear), period management, menopause, sexual health and wellness, and much more!

  • At this time, The Village House does not take insurance. However, we are working on becoming paneled with a few insurance companies.

  • Some insurance companies will allow for a ‘SuperBill’ and we can share more information regarding this soon!

  • If a client desires, they have the option to completely pay for birth services up front. However, if this is not feasible, the midwife and client can come up with a payment plan. The cost per visit and birth can be broken down to make it more manageable if needed. Full payment for prenatal and birth services are due at 36 weeks. Some of the other services offered require a payment at the time of service.

  • Home birth doesn’t have to be ‘just at home’- it can be in an apartment, condo, rental, etc. Discuss your desired location of birth with our midwife.
